The Powerextra DJI Mavic Pro 5 in 1 Intelligent Multi Battery Charger works is a professional level battery charger. It charges DJI, Powerextra and other manufacturers Mavic Pro smart flight batteries. This charger has 3 battery charging ports and 2 USB ports, therefore making this powerhouse charging hub. It is capable of simultaneously charging 3 flight batteries, the remote controller and another USB-enabled devices at the same time. This charger features high output, reliable quality, heavy duty construction and protection built in.
Batteries & USB Device
Grounded Time-saving Charging Hub: The charger takes only 60 mins to complete a full charge of 3 batteries in total. I want to fly and this gets my DJI Mavic Pro back up in the air much faster. Simple to read indicators on the charger mean ease of use. Red lights mean it is charging and when it is done you get a green light. The unit is grounded as an extra safety measure to ensure static electricity will not harm equipment or the user while charging.
The charger also comes with one battery safe bag for transporting and long term storage. Batteries have the potential to catch on fire, these bags are required to transport a DJI Mavic Pro battery on an aircraft. The charger works perfectly in our testing with the DJI Mavic Pro, DJI Mavic Pro Platinum and DJI Mavic Pro Alpine White Version. This charger will not work with the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom drones.
The charger puts out 176 watts with input power from your standard 110 volt or 240 volt wall outlet. The output is DC 13.05 volts at 13.5 amps with the 3 charging branches each putting out 4.5 amps. The USB ports output is DC 5 volts and 2 amps each.
The charger is essentially a large power supply made of durable material. The case itself made of premium aluminum alloy. The aluminum shell is fire-proof, heat-resistant and will dissipate heat quickly and efficiently. Heat is no issue, internal components are effectively cooled with a high velocity fan. The fan clicks on and off as needed and does not run when using the USB ports only. The charger has intelligent protection built-in as a safety system to protect the charger and batteries from overcharging, over voltage, over heating and and short circuiting.
The DJI Mavic Pro 5 in 1 Intelligent Multi Battery Charger Hub came with a heavy duty power cable. The charger came packaged to sufficiently protect the charger during shipping. Although damaging this charger would be pretty tough. Powerextra offers a 12 month limited product warranty. From my experience, they are willing to back their products quickly and without issue. To date, I have had no major issues with their products. I own a lot of Powerextra products and have dealt with their support staff on a couple occasions with great experiences. I wish DJI treated their customers like these guys do. Needless to say, they are no fly by night operations, they are a solid company with 24/7 service and support.
Should you Buy Powerextra Products For Your Mavic Pro?
The simple answer is, I did and would again. I have multiple drones, cameras and a DJI OSMO Plus for which I have a ton of Powerextra batteries and chargers. You can spend hundreds more on factory batteries and chargers. See the review above to help you make your decision and then go buy one. This is a beast of a charger and I could not do what I do without it. You also need to remember, if you let your DJI Mavic Pro sit for a 10 days, the batteries will have partially discharged. If you have 3 or 4 batteries, or even two, that can be a real bummer if you decide to fly and forget to refresh the charge. Having only have the single charger can take an hour per battery.
Beware, there are several charging hubs out there that you can plug 4 batteries into at once. Unless these come with a substantial power supply, they will rotate charging one at a time.
The batteries are plugged in, but only one is really charging. You will still have around 4 hours to wait for 4 batteries. If you buy this charger, you can throw on 3 batteries, your phone and the remote. The Powerextra charger makes it easy and the batteries will be fully charged and ready to fly in an hour. If you have 4 batteries, simultaneously use the stock DJI charger that came with the DJI Mavic Pro.
DJI Mavic Pro Remote, You Are the Weak Link
The one caveat is remote charging time. I am not sure how to beat this one since the charge port on the remote is standard USB and not USB-C. The remote will likely take longer to charge than the batteries. This is a bummer and is true for any charger you will use. It is a problem DJI should have addressed on the DJI Mavic 2’s as well. However, they did not and the newer remote has the same issue. One solution is to charge on an always on car charger in your car so you can charge it while the batteries are charging and keep charging if necessary while you drive to your location.
